She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School of the Performing and Visual Arts in downtown Dallas. After graduation, she earned the BFA diploma from Stephens College in acting and was also a student at British American Drama Academy. She spent six years at Dallas Theatre Center as well as one year with Encore Company. She started her acting career in theaters prior to her big screen debut.
